Abstract

Abstract
Introduction: This case report involves interdisiplinary orthodontic and surgery management of an impacted maxillary central incisors with compound odontoma. Case Report: A 18-year-old patient with a chief complaint there is non- eruption of the anterior teeth. Initial examination showed multiple diastema and missing maxillary central left incisor. Panoramic radiograph showed an impacted maxillary central left incisor due to the presence of compound odontoma. A lateral chepalometric analysis indicated skeletal class III. The patient was treated with 0.022-in MBT prescription bracket with 2 stage treatment plan was developed. Leveling and alignment was done in the first stage to allow enough space for the eruption of impacted teeth. The second stage included surgical exposure to remove the compound odontoma and bonding of orthodontic gold chain to traction the impacted maxillary central incisor with surgical closed eruption technique. After 8 months of traction and 6 months of stabilization, the impacted central incisor was effectively brought into position, and a normal functional occlusion was achieved. Conclusion: The impacted maxillary central incisors was successfully aligned with normal overbite and overjet. The patient’s occlusion and smile esthetics were significantly improved with normal and stable occlusion between maxillary and mandibular arch.
